Event details

We are partnering again with the local Scandinavian Museum to help put on a Demo.

Come early to setup.  All Cars need to be off by 9:45am As the Festivities start at 10am.

Bring your own table and popup if you have one.  Bring your latest project and talk to the public.  We will try to have some extra tables but space is extremely limited.  Or just bring a chair and yourself to enjoy the day.  It's a very relaxed day.

There will be a roped off area for Fighters to practice and show off for the crowd.

There may even be some audience participation with a "Court of Law"

Unfortunately there isn't space for Archery or Thrown weapons.  But come out out and enjoy the day.

Official notice from the Museum:

From 10 - noon we host a Viking Village.  Students can participate in an educational Scavenger Hunt, as they explore displays

At noon the performance component of our event begins, Touched By the Vikings.  There are musical and dance performances from cultures that had a connection to the Vikings, as well as Scandinavian and local artists.  Performers this year include:  Ellen Lindstrom on accordion, Clann Eireann Pipers, The Donny Golden School of Irish Dance, and Young Dancers in Repertory.  The latter has even choreographed a Scandinavian dance for us, which traditionally closes our event.

Three years ago, we added a Native American component, to mark the first time people from the Americas came into contact with people from Europe.  That occurred when the Vikings landed in Newfoundland and we wish to celebrate that contact.  There will also be games for children, Scandinavian fare and Scandinavian crafts and demos.

This year our theme is Celebrating the Years of Norwegian Contributions to Our City, in coordination with this year’s 17th of May Parade’s theme, as well as our Essay Contest.  We will have a special focus on the places, institutions and other amenities that Norwegians and Norwegian-Americans have built and sustained in our city.

Site Opens: 9am
Site Closes: 5pm
