Event details

The 37th Closing of the Inne at Coldwood.  Come help the people of the village Coldwood (Kaldrvidrthorp in the old tongue) celebrate the harvest and prepare for the long winter.  Martial activities of all sorts Saturday in a welcoming and low pressure atmosphere focusing on fun and Viking -era themes.  As some lingering "debates" still simmer ,back after a two year hiatus, two" Jarls" will encamp and strive to settle their difference...hopefully over a horn of mead, but in all probability ,on the field!  The identities of these Notables is yet to be revealed.  This weekend will offer participants the opportunity to let their inner Viking shine, but all cultures, garb eras and armor kits are welcome.  Friday evening several Great Houses will open their gates to offer various repasts for weary travelers .  The Empty Challis ( an alcohol-free coffee and Bardic house) ,hosted by Baron Wulfstan, will be open through out the weekend.  A day board will be served Saturday, along with our traditional Feast .  Classes run throughout the day Saturday at the Inne with fire and frivolity after the Feast.  Some Details...  The site is rural with poor Cell reception( merchant be aware)Cold running water, portable toilets and an insect or two!  Well behaved pets on leash are welcome.  Please no pets in the Inne.  Fires only in established fire rings.  TikiTorches are allowed.  More details to follow.  Please check with the event staff upon arrival as to tent placement .To enhance the experience, we strive to place Period-style tents on the Center Village field and more modern tents in the Western Meadow and wooded lanes to the west of the main site.  These areas are still great with facilities and good access to the fighting ,parking and archery.  You can find last minuet updates on the Coldwood Facebook page.  This year we are opening the site to guests a bit earlier (2PM) to give added time to set up with the shorter fall days upon us.  If traveling from an long distance and you need other entry accommodations, please contact the Steward in advance.  Please unload your vehicles promptly upon arrival and move them to parking as things can get crowded in the village center!
